In 2021, Leena Pukki and Karoliina Paappa had an idea for an art installation for the Kuutio space in the Oodi library in Helsinki. They wanted to create an interactive exhibit in their series “In Another Skin”, which focuses on seeing the world through the experiences of other creatures. This time, they wanted the viewers to play a more active role in the art. They centered the idea around experiencing the world through echolocation amid a pod of dolphins.

However, neither of them had the skills to build the installation, so they needed someone else to join them. Fortunately mutual connections got us together; thus I had the great joy of building this exhibit.

This is one of my favorite projects to date. The challenges in creating this interactive experience reminded me of my early days in game development, where I didn’t have a ready to hand solution. Fresh and exciting challenges are always fun.
